It's been announced that the CW's show, 'Arrow', will be having its final Season after Season 8.
"This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of 'Arrow' in mind," series executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz said in a statement. "We're heartened by the fact that 'Arrow' has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We're excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and - more importantly - the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years."
I'm torn on this news. I'm sad to see it go riding off into the sunset, but at the same time, I also do think that it is time to wrap it up. This current season hasn't really been one of its best, as it just feels a little bit lost on what the overall story is. Plus there just seems to be so many 'good-bye' moments or hints between the characters that it just feels like it's time and not drag it out.
'Arrow' helped setup and define what is now called the 'Arrowverse', where 'The Flash' & 'Supergirl' live. (Oh! And lets not forget about the 'Legends of Tomorrow'!) There is also the upcoming 'Batwoman' series that would / should be starting up really soon (they had her in this year's crossover and it was awesome)! So, to say that this show has done a lot outside of just telling a great story about the Emerald Archer is no joke.
They're planning on ending Season 8 with 10 episodes, so while it'll be short and sweet, now that there's a clear end-marker, I feel like we could see a really great wrap-up to a really awesome show.
